The Peugeot BA-10/5 is a five speed, light duty transmission introduced in 1987 until mid-1989 when it was replaced by the AX15. The Peugeot has a poor record of reliability and not much strength, leading to a lot of early issues. This transmission has the shortest production run in Jeep history, lasting only around 2 to 2-1/2 years.

It is rare to find a Jeep with this transmission, but if you do you should know that this transmission is generally not worth any repairs or rebuilding on. Parts may be hard to find and you may be hard-pressed to find a shop that would work on this. Generally, an AX15 swap is recommended as a good replacement for this transmission.
